As our Assistant Laboratory Manager within our Personalised Medicine team your purpose will be to:

  • Coordinate and help manage people and research infrastructure to achieve impactful results.
  • Provide high level molecular biology expertise and advice with the ability to critically evaluate experiment results and to effectively, and succinctly communicate these to various stakeholders in a timely manner and appropriate way.
  • Implement a continuous improvement approach to all aspects of the role.
  • Actively engage and drive the continued development of the programs technical capacity to ensure it remains at the cutting edge of clinically relevant research.
  • Drive the design, testing and implementation of novel experimental protocols and approaches to advance personalised medicine approaches in children’s cancer.
  • Deliver timely, and accurate results of complex technical workflows at a rigour expected of clinically relevant data and extract relevant information from the data and be capable of presenting this to a wide range of audiences.
  • Track and meticulously record all aspects of laboratory operations whilst ensuring patient confidentiality

To succeed you will have…

  • Extensive laboratory experience (molecular) and a proven ability to work with others.
  • The ability to independently manage competing goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and positively influence more junior scientists and technical staff.
  • High level molecular expertise with proven ability to operate in an independent manner.
  • Be highly skilled in communications and must be capable of always maintaining a professional demeanour.
  • An ability to develop protocols from first principles.
  • Skills to work in an independent manner with a minimum of oversight.
  • A good understand of clinical lab standards and be able to implement these where required.
