SUMMARY:
The role has operational and strategic HR leadership responsibility across the BeLux business for our client.
With continued plans for growth and transformation in the country, the HR function needs to be fully aligned with goals of the business. Change is the norm and being comfortable with ambiguity will be a key success factor. A strong understanding of the cultural landscape, and employment law and practices will provide the backdrop for being able to deliver change management programmes most effectively.
The role is supported by a small HR team as well as the Regional and Group HR teams and centres of expertise. The HR team will provide full HR support to the business and leadership team across all areas of HR including talent development, L&D, diversity, recruitment, reward and HR operations (HR systems, payroll etc).
It will be important for the new HR Director to be comfortable managing the demands and challenges of a fast-paced, international organisation, gained from working at a senior level in a close or related sector. You will have worked in an international organisation, previously in a senior generalist HR role; ideally operating in a matrix structure across multiple countries, with HR centres of excellence located elsewhere in the organisation.
You will need to be a highly commercial business partner first and foremost, supported by HR technical skills and experience. Change management experience will be a key requirement, as will having experience of building and developing a high performing HR team by coaching team members.
Main Responsibilities of the role:
- Act as a business partner and coach to the Country MD and leadership team.
- Increase and enhance employee retention, engagement, learning and development and the succession and promotion of talent within the business.
- Improve the use and understanding of compensation and benefits and performance management to create a high performance culture across the business.
- Oversee employee and Union relations and “social climate” with a focus on managing ER/IR through a period of continued growth and transformation.
- Lead the planning, development and delivery of the organisational capabilities required for the sustained achievement of business goals.
- Anticipate, adapt and respond to changing business needs by delivering first class HR strategies and services that help build and maintain:
- A stable and strong management team that provides leadership and enables the achievement of business mission, vision and goals
- A talented workforce possessing the knowledge, skills, tools and motivation to achieve business goals
- An highly regarded and professional HR Function comprising skilled, business-minded HR professionals who have the direction, cohesion, systems and tools to deliver cost effective and high quality strategic and operational HR services to the businesses in which they operate
- Workplace systems that support keeping employees focused, productive, energised and committed
Qualifications & Professional Skills
- Ideally degree holder or equivalent
- A Minimum of 10+ years experience gained in a senior HR leadership role, preferably in a services business across multiple business units and/or countries.
- Deep and extensive knowledge of relevant HR legislation and experience working with Works Councils, CLAs or similar complex employee relations environments.
- Experience establishing and improving HR operational processes (e.g. HR systems, payroll, reporting)
- Large corporate experience involving developing and launching change initiatives, leadership programmes, performance management and talent development processes.
- Fluency in business English - both written and spoken
- Able to evidence strong business acumen at an operational and strategic level.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a positive attitude and dynamic personality
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build relationships and partner with a wide range of managers and colleagues.
- Action-oriented, hands-on, results focused and able to work at pace under pressure.
- Self-starter who works well independently and in a team and who is able to make key decisions using data and insight
- An excellent appreciation and understanding of a variety of cultural landscapes found within a global business; adept at operating across international borders.
